In honor of summer! <3
What is summer without fresh 'maters?!
It's the dog days of summer, isn't it. And it's been one that I'm sure dogs don't like unless they have a nice big bowl of cold water and a shady place to sleep all day.  ;-)  I'll take iced tea instead, my studio, my needles, threads and fabric.  And that's what I've been up to - ignoring the heat, opening the windows, smelling fresh air, listening to the birds singing - we have one we are trying to identify but it keeps itself well-hidden.  We call it the "Squeaky Bird" because it's "song" (if you can call it a song) sounds like one of those little tin penny whistles that you find in tourist trap gift shops.  You know, the ones you are sorry you bought for your kids because all the way home that's what you hear from the back seat.  ;-)

Here is one of my newest embroideries - just listed in the shop.  I hope you'll stop by and check out my other little mug rug patterns. More are on the drawing board and in my hoop!  Will be sharing and listing soon!

I hope you enjoy your summer afternoon. Mine appears to be pleasantness in the making!

If you know me, you know I'm a country girl.  I love doing watercolors of barns and also creating embroidery patterns of them.  On that note...  :-)  Here is my latest barn embroidery pattern that is also adaptable to punch needle.  I've included directions for both in my instructions.

You can find the downloadable pattern here:

Are you feeling "witchie"?  Are you already sick of HOT weather?  I am!  Fall is my favorite time of year, and for me it's never too early or the "wrong" season to have fun designing and stitching fall patterns.  Here are two of my new little witch embroidery patterns.  Both also have instructions included for punch needle.

I haven't done any crazy quilting projects for quite awhile, as I've been focusing on my embroidery and wool applique pattern designs.  But I did work on this one for quite a few days, so I wanted to share the results and maybe inspire some of you to learn some fancy embroidery stitches.  I highly recommend a wonderful stitchery book by Dorothy Bond.  It's been my fancy stitchwork "companion" for years.

Here's a little corner mitering tutorial...very simple to do just by following the photos....
