I've been "at it" again - painting more barns. I just can't say how much I am enjoying painting these iconic American structures. To me, there is just something so comforting and reassuring about seeing an old barn. The stories these walls could tell...I'll soon need to take a drive out in the country to take photos of more local barns.

This country girl has been painting watercolors of barns again. They've always been one of my favorite subjects. My personal favorite is the old weathered brown barn captured on a late fall afternoon....
The other is a local barn photographed by me on a brilliantly sunny afternoon and copied in watercolor on a linen textured paper....
Below are two photos I snapped in our garden last evening after a brief shower. The mist lifted up from the wet ground and softened all of the colors, giving the garden a totally ethereal feeling.
The sun had just about set and was eye level with my camera. I love the way the lowering sun's rays created shadows from the oak and pine trees...
